Jain Manisha

Dr. Manisha Jain is an Associate Professor at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai. She works in the broad areas of energy, environment, climate change and sustainability. Her specific interests are in climate change mitigation, energy and emissions accounting and modelling, energy efficiency, consumer behaviour, and discrete choice analysis. She did her graduation in Electrical Engineering in 2003 and post-graduation in Energy Systems Engineering in 2005. After working for six years in energy consulting, she did PhD in Climate Studies from the Interdisciplinary Department on Climate Studies, IIT Bombay, in 2017. Since then she is working as a faculty at IGIDR.

After exploring discrete choice modelling in PhD, she began looking at the aggregated data on energy and emissions. She has written on energy and emissions data accounting in India and examined progress toward meeting energy and climate goals for India and the global using aggregated data on energy use and emissions. She has worked on several projects in energy policy, energy efficiency and sustainability. At IGIDR, she teaches courses in energy systems, energy economics and policy, sustainable development and climate change science economics and policy.
