Library FAQ's

Who can become a member of the library?

Students, faculty, and staff of IGIDR are eligible to become members and have barrowing privileges. External researchers or academic visitors may use the library for reference purposes only, subject to prior permission from the Chief Librarian. They must present a valid institutional ID card along with an official letter of introduction from their institution.

How can I register for library membership?

Library accounts for IGIDR users are automatically created based on the official records received from the Student Office (for students) and the Administration Office (for faculty and staff).

Is there a library membership fee?

There is no membership fee

How many books can I borrow at a time and what is the period?

Can I renew books?

Yes, books can be renewed twice unless they are reserved by another user. You can renew online (provide link) or at the circulation desk.

What happens if I return a book late?

The library generally does not impose fines; however, overdue returns are subject to a late fee of ₹5 per day, per item. For more details, please click here (provide link)

How to search library books or resources?

Please visit the library catalogue to search library resources at http://opac.igidr.ac.in/

How to Reserve/Hold books online?

You may reserve items by logging into your library account or at the circulation desk. Please note that only books currently checked out by other users are eligible for reservation.

How can I suggest/recommend a new book or resource?

Only faculty members and heads of departments can recommend books for procurement to the library. However, students and staff may submit their suggestions through the concerned faculty member or head of the department.

How can I access e-resources subscribed by the library?

E-resources can be accessed by visiting following links:

Can I access e-resources from outside the campus?

Yes, remote access is available for most licensed journals and databases. Users must log in using their institutional credentials through https://idp.igidr.ac.in

Is printing and photocopying available?

Yes, printing, scanning, and photocopying facilities are available at nominal charges subject to copyright/fair use guidelines.

Are food and beverages allowed in the library?

No. Food and beverages are not allowed to maintain cleanliness and protect materials.

What are the library working hours and holidays?

For library working hours, please check at ……………. The library remains open throughout the year, except on four designated national holidays.
